NATIONAL CONFERENCE OF WOMEN LEGISLATORS

1. National Conference of Women Legislators was held in New Delhi on 5 and 6 March, 2016 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi under the auspices of the Indian Parliamentary Group. Women Members of Parliament and State Legislators attended the Conference.

2. The Theme of the Conference was “Women Legislators: Building Resurgent India”. Plenary Session followed by two Sessions were held during the Conference. The themes of the Sessions were (i) "Contributing to Social Development"; (ii) "Contributing to Economic Development" and (iii) "Contributing to better Governance and Legislation".

3. The Conference was inaugurated by the Hon’ble President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee at 1100 hours on Saturday, 5 March, 2016 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, Vice-President & Chairman, Rajya Sabha, Shri Mohammad Hamid Ansari; the Speaker, Lok Sabha, Smt. Sumitra Mahajan and Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Speaker of Bangladesh also attended the Inaugural Ceremony. The President, the Vice-President & Chairman, Rajya Sabha and Speaker, Lok Sabha addressed the distinguished gathering. The Secretary-General, Lok Sabha proposed the Vote of Thanks. In the evening a Cultural Programme was organised followed by Dinner hosted by Hon'ble Speaker, Lok Sabha at Hotel ‘The Ashok’.

4. Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India and Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, Former President of India addressed the distinguished gathering at the Valedictory Session held on 6 March, 2016 in the Central Hall, Parliament House. Smt. Sumitra Mahajan, Speaker, Lok Sabha presented the Closing Remarks. A Group Photograph of all delegates alongwith dignitaries was taken in the lawns between Central Hall and Gate No.1 Parliament House after the Valedictory Session.

NATIONAL LEGISLATORS CONFERENCE

1. National Legislators Conference was held in Parliament House Complex, New Delhi on 10 & 11 March, 2018 under the auspices of the Indian Parliamentary Group. The Theme of the Conference was "WE FOR DEVELOPMENT". The Conference was attended by Members of the Union Cabinet, Members of Parliament and Presiding Officers & Members of State Legislative Assemblies/Councils.

2. The Conference was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi in the Central Hall of Parliament House on 10 March, 2018. Hon’ble Prime Minster of India and Hon’ble Speaker, Lok Sabha addressed the distinguished gathering after the inauguration of the Conference. Plenary Sessions were held on the topics (i) Role of Legislators in development process; and (ii) Optimum utilisation of resources in development.

3. Concluding Session followed by Valedictory Session was held on 11 March, 2018. Shri Nitin Jairam Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation chaired the Concluding Session and addressed the gathering in the Central Hall of Parliament House. During the Valedictory Session, Moderators of parallel Sessions presented a brief report of their respective Sessions. The Resolution proposed by Shri Om Birla, MP was adopted at the Valedictory Session of the Conference. Shri Arun Jaitley, Union Minister for Finance and Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Vice-President of India and Chairman Rajya Sabha addressed the gathering during the Valedictory Session. Smt. Sumitra Mahajan, Speaker, Lok Sabha presented the Closing Remarks.
